Mrs. Pattillo
About Me:
Hi! My name is Kim Pattillo and I am currently teaching pre-k for the second year at West Point Elementary. I am in the process of obtaining my Master's Degree in Early Childhood Education and have plans to earn a Specialist's Degree once I have my Masters.
I have been married for twelve years and am fortunate enough to have eight year old boy/girl twins! I have two dogs, Buddy and Double Bubble. Baking, dancing, photography, reading, and writing are my favorite past times, but I rarely have any down time.
My Teaching Philosophy:
I view teaching as an investment in the future. Simply stated, students are the future. It is the responsibility of educators to teach students a sense of community, self and social responsibility, and to empower each student to play an active, life long role in his/her education.
I believe that every learner deserves the opportunity to grow emotionally, intellectually, physically, and socially. Every child can and will learn with the proper nurturing, redirection, and security. Students need structure balanced with freedom, whole group learning experiences paired with hands-on learning experiences, guided self-exploration, and one-on-one attention in order to flourish. Educators must believe in themselves and their students in order to foster the necessary elements required to create a cohesive learning environment.
